EICC offers Personal Trainer Certification Program
With America’s ever-increasing focus on fitness, there has become a greater demand for personal trainers.
Those interested in becoming a trainer can now take advantage of a 10-week course offered by Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. Beginning February 22, the course will be held on consecutive Thursdays from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the college’s Urban Center, 306 W. River Drive, Davenport.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the demand for personal trainers will increase by 10 percent by 2026. That does not include the need for new trainers to replace workers as they leave the field.
The personal trainer exam review course prepares participants for the ACE Personal Training exam. Topics include anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing and health assessment, nutrition, exercise prescription, equipment usage, special populations, legal and safety issues.
Discounts on the exam and learning materials are given students who take this course. In addition to the coursework, students have the option completing an internship to help them improve their skills with hands on learning.
The course will be led by Nathan Pittman, Fitness and Recreation Coordinator at the Bettendorf Life Fitness Center. Cost for the course is $249 and the course number is 194184.
