MCPST is offering Driver/Operator-Pumper course for Fire Departments


Fire-Fighters using hoseThe Midwest Center for Public Safety Training (MCPST) is offering a Driver/Operator-Pumper course this fall. This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required for certification to Driver/Operator-Pumper as described in Chapters 4 and 5 of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to operate a fire department pumper during emergency situations. The course is designed around classroom lectures and field evolutions covering such activities as relay pumping, drafting, foam operations, apparatus maintenance, and driving.

Students are responsible to have an “IFSTA Pumping Apparatus DRIVER/Operator Handbook”, Third Edition, with them on the first day of class. TO ORDER: Call the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau at (515) 294-6817.
