NEW State Program Will Pay for Your Tuition
Students enrolling in a number of career and technology programs can now have their tuition completely paid thanks to a new scholarship program recently signed by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
The new Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship covers tuition for students in programs leading to high-demand jobs in Iowa. It pays the cost of tuition above and beyond that covered by other state and federal programs.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our students,” said EICC Chancellor Don Doucette. “The Last Dollar Scholarship removes cost barriers for anyone who wants to pursue a college education in Iowa’s in-demand careers, providing a pathway to better paying jobs and higher quality of life.”
Students in the program first complete the standard application for state and federal dollars. The Last-Dollar Scholarship then fills the gap above and beyond any other grant money the student might receive, for the entire cost of tuition.
To be eligible, new high school graduates must enroll full-time. Adult learners may enroll full- or part-time. All students must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), attend orientation, meet with an advisor, remain continuously enrolled and make satisfactory academic progress. Students can receive the Last-Dollar Scholarship for up to five full-time semesters or eight part-time semesters. Qualified students will need to reapply each year.
