EICC Offers Free Job Skills Workshops

Urban Campus Classroom, tables and WhiteboardEastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is partnering with the Quad City Times to provide free job skills workshops to people in the community.

The workshops will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, at the college’s newly-opened Scott Community College Urban Campus in downtown Davenport, 101 West Third Street.

“The workshops are a week prior to the Times’ Career Fair,” said EICC Associate Director for Marketing & Communications Alan Campbell. “The Times approached us, asking if we would be willing to work with them to help prepare people for the Career Fair. The workshops will provide people tips on interviewing, resume writing and doing a career search.”

He said the interviewing and resume writing workshops will be especially helpful to those attending the career fair as they meet with potential employers. The sessions are open to everyone, regardless of whether or not they plan to attend the career fair.

The sessions will be led by EICC staff. Each session is 25 minutes in length and start on the half hour. Attendees can participate in the workshops they choose, attending just one or two sessions, or all four.

The SCC Urban Campus is part of a $31 million project. The west classroom building opened with the start of spring classes on January 16. The new campus houses programs in Business, Information Technology, Virtual Reality, Administrative Office Support, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nurse Aide and College Transfer.

Attendees can enter the building either from the front entrance on Third Street or the side entrance on Main Street.
