Computer security students working on projectComputer professionals are in demand in today’s job market and Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) has the training to get students into those careers.

EICC’s Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Community Colleges will be hosting upcoming information sessions to answer questions people have about starting a new computer career. The sessions will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. at three locations:

November 28 - Clinton Community College, Room 147, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton

November 29 - Scott Community College Kahl Educational Center, Room 404, 326 W. Third St., Davenport

November 30 - Muscatine Community College, Loper Hall Room 111, 152 Colorado St., Muscatine

Thanks to a recent statewide grant from the US Department of Labor, EICC’s program has been outfitted with some of the newest equipment available. It has also partnered with companies such as Cisco, Oracle and Microsoft to build job-specific certifications directly into the curriculum.

The EON Virtual Reality program is an exciting opportunity for area students to enter one of the newest careers available, Virtual and Augmented Reality. The college has partnered with EON Reality, a world leader in VR/AR development, to bring this academy to Davenport.

The 11-month program provides four months of intensive training followed by seven months of actual hands-on experience working on projects with EON’s clients from around the world.
