In partnership with the Guardians of the Prairie and Forest, we invite you to join us for the 2018 Nahant Marsh BioBlitz, to be held from 2 p.m. on June 22 to 2 p.m. on June 23. Lend a hand as we attempt to find, identify and record as many species as possible.
A BioBlitz is a 24-hour period of intense biological sampling in an effort to document all living things in a specified area. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to join scientists and naturalists from around the region as they survey mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, plants, insects and much more on our 305 acre forest preserve. This is an exciting chance for citizens to work alongside the experts. The public and media are invited to attend the BioBlitz to watch or assist the scientists in collection or documentation. The free app, iNaturalist, will be used to record all findings for the 2018 Blitz.
Guided hikes, a hayrack ride, and other hands-on public programs and educational displays
will be offered Friday from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m - 2 p.m. La
Flama will also have food available for purchase during the Saturday lunch period
from their food truck. All events will be held at the Nahant Marsh, located at 4220 Wapello Ave., Davenport.
If you would like to volunteer, register online or call Lindsey at 563-336-3374.
