Get help filling out the FAFSA July 23 and 24
Paying for college is often one of the biggest concerns students and their families have about college. Filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can ease some of those fears and is an important step in helping finance a college education. It’s also required of all students filing for financial aid and by most colleges for their college scholarships.
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges can help you get the process started at our upcoming FAFSA Assistance Nights:
Tuesday, July 23, 4 - 6 p.m.
- SCC Urban Campus, West Building Room 210
101 W. Third St., Downtown Davenport
Wednesday, July 24, 4 - 6 p.m.
- Clinton Community College
1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton
- Muscatine Community College
Gaekle Hall Room 204
152 Colorado St., Muscatine
- Scott Community College
500 Belmont Rd., Bettendorf
At these events you’ll learn everything you need to know about accessing federal and state student aid such as grants, work-study and loans to help pay for college. Our Financial Aid Specialists will be on hand to answer questions and walk you through the application steps.
They’ll also help you determine if you qualify for Iowa’s Last-Dollar Program. Through this exciting new program, if you enroll in any one of several different in-demand career technology programs the state will pay your remaining tuition balance. All you need to do is complete the FAFSA and the Last-Dollar Scholarship will then fill the gap for the entire cost of tuition.
The sessions are free and open to everyone, regardless of whether they have already committed to attending one of our colleges or are still considering their options. Everyone is encouraged to file the FAFSA and determine their eligibility for financial aid. Many people are surprised to learn they are, indeed, eligible. Helpful information to bring with you to the FAFSA Night includes your (and your parents if considered a dependent) social security number, tax returns (you can also use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to access these online), bank statements, and FSA ID so you can electronically sign the FAFSA form. Our Financial Aid Specialists can help you create a FSA ID at the session, or you can create one ahead of time by visiting the FAFSA website.
