Virtual HiSET Graduation Ceremony July 6
6/29/21
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) HiSET graduates will be celebrate virtually this year with a Facebook Live event on July 6, beginning at 6 p.m. The ceremony can be viewed on EICC’s Facebook page, facebook.com/easterniowacommunitycollege
Graduates from all three of EICC’s Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Community College programs will be included in this special ceremony.
The ceremony honors the efforts of more than 180 graduates of the college’s high school diploma program. In a typical year, graduates range all the way from their late teens into their 50s or 60s. Students choose to complete the program for a variety of reasons. A job search is near the top of the list but quite often people do so simply for the personal satisfaction of earning that high school diploma.
The program is comprised of national tests in five areas of Language Arts – Reading, Language Arts – Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
EICC provides students free tutoring to help them prepare for the tests, including practice tests to help them get ready to take the real thing. There is a fee for each of the five official tests. Preparation tutoring is available at the Clinton and Muscatine Community Colleges main campuses, Scott Community College West Davenport Center and other locations.
In addition, students who complete the program will receive a scholarship for three-credit hours from the college to help them continue their education. The scholarship can be used for both credit and non-credit career classes through EICC’s Continuing Education program.
