Dental Assisting Week
The dental assisting profession continues to diversify and expand. Whether working chairside with the dentist, taking X–rays or managing the business office, teaching or working in insurance or sales, dental assistants are vital to the success of the dental practice.
March 1 – 7 is Dental Assistants Recognition Week across the United States. Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is proud to be a part of the dental assistant world. Our Dental Assisting program at Scott Community College has been training students for decades.
Wherever you go for your dental care, there are likely to be graduates of our program working with patients. The college’s Dental Assisting program is short-term, less than a year, and includes both hands-on practice in our labs followed by internships at area dental facilities.
Thanks to the new Iowa Last Dollar program, students can have their entire tuition paid. In just its second year, the statewide program covers all of a student’s tuition costs above and beyond any other government assistance the student receives, even if they receive no other assistance at all.
“A 20/20 Dental Assistant - Looking Toward the Future” is the theme for the 43rd annual Dental Assistants Recognition Week. It is a time for dental assistants to receive greater recognition for their own unique and diverse contributions to the dental profession and the dental health care of the public.
The recognition week is sponsored by the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA), the voice of dental assisting for more than 90 years. ADAA is committed to promoting quality dental health care to the public and enhancing the public image and stature of the dental assisting profession.
