Muscatine Community College Closed October 26 - November 1
10/23/20
The Muscatine Community College (main campus, Ag Learning Center and the Button Factory locations) will be closed beginning Monday, October 26 through November 1, with a planned re-opening of Monday, November 2.
On-campus classes will be held online or Live Online. Please check Canvas for specific instructions from your faculty. Online and LIVE Online courses delivered remotely will continue as scheduled.
Student services will be provided remotely during the week of October 26. Go to Student Resources and Assistance for more information about accessing these services. Students with advising appointments will receive information from their advisor regarding accessing a virtual appointment.
All other EICC campuses will remain open. The Learning Tree Childcare Center will also remain open.
The decision to temporarily close the MCC Campus was made due to a small but significant
number of positive and presumed positives among employees as well as a sharp increase
in the Muscatine County 14-day average positivity rate. To ensure the safety of MCC
students and employees, the leadership of both Muscatine Community College and the
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges decided to close for a week in order to complete testing
of all those who may have had direct contact with COVID-positive cases. This will
also allow those who desire to get a COVID-19 test for personal assurance to do so.
All those believed to be potentially in direct contact with a COVID-positive employee
have been contacted. We will also use this time to perform additional deep cleaning
at the campus.
We will continue to monitor health and safety conditions on our campuses and in our
communities and respond as needed to changing conditions. We appreciate all efforts
to keep our campuses and communities as safe as possible.
