SCC Pre-Nursing Informational Meetings
Students considering beginning nursing classes this fall at Scott Community College are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming Pre-Nursing informational meetings at the college.
The first will be held Tuesday, March 26, beginning at 6 p.m., in Room 1501 at the college, 500 Belmont Rd., Bettendorf. The second is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at 9 a.m. in the Student Life Center. Each session lasts approximately two hours. The meetings are designed for students seeking information about both the Licensed Practical Nursing and Associate Degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse - RN) programs. They help students get off to a great start by providing them with the information they need to be successful including prerequisite courses, academic planning, admission requirements, the application process, TEAS testing (for the RN program), and employment information for the nursing profession.
Nursing is the largest career-related program at the college. The clinical component is one of its strengths with an average of two clinical days per week. Clinicals are a combination of direct patient care, care conferences, observational experiences and nursing simulation laboratory experiences.
Graduates have a 95 percent pass rate on the national licensure examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN), one of the highest rates in the state. Ninety percent of graduates are employed in local communities.
