Join Eastern Iowa Community Colleges in the lobby of downtown Muscatine’s new Merrill Hotel and Conference Center, 119 West Mississippi Drive, July 24 from 2 - 4 p.m. or July 26 from 4 - 6 p.m. and enjoy breathtaking views of the Mississippi River while learning more about Muscatine Community College’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Programs.

During both events, faculty will share information about the courses and local job opportunities in the industry. Faculty-guided tours of the culinary lab, located next door in the renovated kitchen of the former Button Factory restaurant, will be offered. Information about the newly-announced scholarships specifically for students in the program will also be available.

EICC has partnered with the Merrill Hotel to provide hands-on training for students in both programs and graduates are guaranteed a job interview with the hotel.

The unique delivery of the Culinary Arts program has students attending classes in the lab only one day a week, and then working on the job at an area restaurant for the remainder of the week. Students in the program are also simultaneously completing a national apprenticeship program, so the skills they learn are in demand at restaurants throughout the area and even the United States.

The Hospitality Management program trains students for jobs in hotels, restaurants, conference centers and other facilities that regularly serve large groups of people. Students will be trained for a wide variety of positions including events, front desk, catering and banquets, sales, reservations and housekeeping.
