Meet the MCC President Candidates


Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is inviting the public to meet with two candidates applying to fill the shoes of retiring Muscatine Community College (MCC) President Bob Allbee.

Dr. Bryce Humpherys will be available next Wednesday, May 20, and Dr. Naomi DeWinter, will be at the college on, Thursday, May 21. Both forums will be held from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the McAvoy Center on the MCC campus, 1403 Park Avenue.

The college interviewed two previous candidates. One of those soon after accepted a position at another college while the other remains under consideration.

Humpherys has been with Yakima Valley Community College in Yakima, WA since 2005.  He serves as Dean of the Grandview Campus as well as Dean of Yakima Valley’s Basic Skills Division and WorkFirst Programs. Prior to that, he was a social/behavioral sciences instructor and Faculty Chair of the Page/Lake Powell Campus of Coconino Community College in Arizona. Humpherys holds an A.A. from Ricks College in Idaho, his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Utah State University and his Ed.D from Washington State University.

DeWinter is the Vice President of Student Affairs at North Central College in Petosky, MI.  She has served in that role since 2001 and was previously Director of Enrollment Management for North Central. Previously, she worked in admissions and led enrollment efforts at Oakland Community College in Michigan.  DeWinter holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University and earned her Ed.D. from Ferris State University.

Allbee will be retiring at the end of June after 35 years of service to the college as MCC President, Director of the college’s Business and Industry Center, and also as Director of Operations for EICC’s Blong Technology Center in Davenport.

The public is welcome to attend the two forums and ask questions of the candidates. Forums will be held earlier in the day for the college’s faculty and staff.
