Agriculture Information Session
Things are springing up and growing in Muscatine Community College’s agriculture program.
Yes, we’re being a bit punny there but it’s true, the college is adding three new program options for incoming students including: Turf and Landscape, Agriculture Systems Technology and Precision Agribusiness Management. These are in addition to already popular programs such as Agribusiness Management and Farm Management.
Anyone interested in learning about all the many options available is invited to attend the Ag Information Session scheduled for April 22, beginning at 9 a.m. The event will be held in Gaekle Hall at the college, 152 Colorado St.
The new Turf and Landscape Management program provides students the knowledge and skills to enter professional careers including: golf and sports turf management, landscape design, landscape installation, grounds maintenance, lawn care, garden center management and other green industry related careers.
The Agriculture Systems Technology (AST) degree combines parts of the Agribusiness Management and Engineering Technology programs at MCC. AST is a career field merging the principles of engineering, science, math and technology (STEM) with agriculture. An AST graduate will analyze, develop, build and trouble shoot systems using practical knowledge and skill.
The Precision Agribusiness Management program provides students the skills needed to succeed in precision agriculture roles. Students develop competencies in agronomy, technology and agricultural economics. The program includes studies in Geographic Information Systems and Geo-Spatial Data Collection, as well as frequent opportunities for field work and paid internships.
