Learn about China with free classes
As the city of Clinton welcomes Chinese students to the community’s new Pangaea International
Academy, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges and its Clinton Community College are working
to provide classes for those who wish to learn more about the country of China.
Delivered through the college’s Continuing Education Department, these classes are all just one or two days in length and free of charge.
East and West Shared Experiences – Part I offers students the opportunity to gain insight into the commonality of human experience
in China and the US, and to become motivated to collaborate for mutual benefit.
The class will be offered at three separate times:
- September 26, 12:30 – 2 p.m., CCC Room 139, 1000 Lincoln Blvd.
- September 26, 5:30 – 7 p.m., CCC Room 139, 1000 Lincoln Blvd.
- September 27, 10 – 11:30 a.m., CCC Technology Center, 1951 Manufacturing Dr.
East and West Shared Experiences Part II is a continuation of East and West Shared Experiences - Part I including more information
on physical geography, economy, language and food.
It will also be offered at three separate times:
- October 24, 12:30 – 2 p.m., CCC Room 139, 1000 Lincoln Blvd.
- October 24, 5:30 – 7 p.m., CCC Room 139, 1000 Lincoln Blvd.
- October 25, 10 – 11:30 a.m., CCC Technology Center, 1951 Manufacturing Dr.
This is Mandarin Chinese – Introduction and Discovery Workshop takes mystery out of the Chinese language and even allows them to speak and write a few words in Mandarin Chinese.
Dip your toes into the water and begin a fun journey into another culture through our “no stress” workshop format. Students will become familiar with the Mandarin language and Pinyin (Romanization of Chinese Characters) while also learning to read, write and type their name and use basic greetings.
The class will be held in the CCC Library, from 5:30 – 7 p.m. on September 25 and 27.
