Program Description for HVAC
This program provides all of the skills necessary to gain meaningful employment as an entry-level Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) technician.
Our students obtain extensive hands-on experience in the repair, maintenance and installation of a wide variety of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems.
Both residential and commercial systems are covered to provide students with a wide
variety of experience. Classes in HVAC are taught by lecture and followed by appropriate
laboratory experiences, building both hands-on and application skills. The HVAC program
will provide the opportunity for students to complete Industry Competency Residential
and Light Commercial Competency Exams.

Employment of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is projected to increase 34 percent during the 2010-20 decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the population and stock of buildings grows, so does the demand for residential, commercial, and industrial climate-control systems. Median hourly wages of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers were $19.08 in May 2010. The middle 50 percent earned between $14.94 and $24.84 an hour. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $12.19, and the top 10 percent earned more than $30.59.

The HVAC program and curriculum at EICC is fully accredited by HVAC Excellence. It is the only HVAC program in the state of Iowa to receive this accreditation.
