The equipment for the lab was funded in part by a $15 million grant awarded to Iowa’s community colleges by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment & Training Administration.
That lab has since been moved to even better facilities in the college's new Scott Community College Urban Campus in downtown Davenport. The new campus was opened in 2018.
