RE: Update on Chancellor Search Extension

The search for the next Chancellor of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges continues, with applications being accepted through May 3. Following their review of applications, the Chancellor Search Committee will meet on May 11 to determine semifinalist candidates for interview on May 18. They will then recommend up to three additional finalists to the Board of Trustees for their consideration.

A word on the status of the initial final candidates: Dr. Ellen Bluth remains a strong final candidate. Dr. John Maduko withdrew from the search on April 4 to accept another position.

All finalists will visit EICC the week of June 6 for public forums and interviews with the Board. Each visit will take place over two days, with candidates at the SCC Urban Campus, MCC and SCC Belmont campuses on day 1 and at CCC on day 2. Please save these times on your calendar for candidate forums; dates will be confirmed when finalists are determined.

June 6, 7, 8 and 9:

RE: Update on Chancellor Search Extension from EICC Board Chair Bob Gallagher

The Board of Trustees on Saturday took action to extend the search for the next EICC chancellor. While the Board members were very pleased with the quality of the four finalists advanced by the Search Committee, the withdrawal of several of those candidates to accept other positions has left us with a smaller pool of finalists to consider than we desired. For that reason, we are extending the search to identify additional finalists.

Applications will now be accepted through May 3. The Search Committee will review those applications and meet on May 11 to determine candidates for initial confidential interviews on May 18. At that time, they will recommend up to three additional finalists to the Board for consideration. We anticipate finalists to visit EICC for interviews and forums during the week of June 6. It is our goal to identify a new chancellor in June for an August start date. We will continue to post updates as the process moves forward.

On behalf of the Board, I thank you for your continued support of the process, the Search Committee and the Board as we work to identify a chancellor who can best lead EICC into the future.

RE: Update on Chancellor Search

The EICC Board of Trustees is committed to a thorough process to find the next Chancellor for Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. The Board is grateful to the Chancellor Search Committee for the thoughtful consideration and significant time they invested to recommend final candidates to the Board.

Four outstanding finalists were recommended by the Search Committee and accepted by the Board; however, two have withdrawn to accept other positions. In order to ensure the Board completes its full due diligence, we have decided to extend the search to consider additional final candidates. Quite simply, for a decision of this importance, we want to consider a larger slate of candidates. Please understand this decision is not a reflection on our interest in the two recommended finalists; we remain committed to fully considering these two exceptional professionals, assuming their continued interest in the position.

The finalist visits scheduled for April 4-6 have been postponed. We are in the process of developing the schedule for reopening the search and reconvening the search committee. We will keep you informed as the process proceeds.

Thank you for your patience as we work to the make the best choice for EICC, its students and employees, and our communities.
