Educate A Women, Empower The World

The Women’s Giving Network began in 2012 by a handful of energized women empowered to make a lasting impact at the college. The network began by recruiting members to give $100 a year for five consecutive years.  The goal was to recruit 50 members each year for the next five years to raise a total of $25,000.  With the money raised, a $1,000 scholarship would be given to a non-traditional women returning to college at Scott Community College each year.  By the end of the fifth year a total of five $1,000 scholarships would be awarded and $20,000 would be endowed to forever fund the scholarship. Thanks to the quick interest in the community and a grant from the Junior League of the Quad Cities for $5,000 this goal was met a year early in 2015.

Today the work of the Women’s Giving Network continues as the members work to duplicate their efforts with the proceeds this time going to a women currently enrolled at Scott Community College.  It is again the goal of the network to raise $25,000, with $5,000 going to five students for scholarship and $20,000 being endowed to forever support this second scholarship.

Each year, the network hosts three different events. In the summer and fall, the network has a social in which both members and their guests are invited to attend. In addition, the network hosts a member exclusive dinner in the spring where the scholarship recipients will be introduced.
