In addition to sleek new buildings packed with the latest in state-of-the-art equipment, students now have an added incentive to enroll in classes at Scott Community College’s new downtown Davenport Urban Campus, a $1,000 one.
Two new scholarship programs provide up to $1,000 per semester for qualifying full-time students, $500 for part-time students. Scholarships are also available for students enrolled in specified Continuing Education classes.
Even better, the scholarships can be paired with other forms of financial aid available at the college, dramatically decreasing the cost of tuition.
The Community Development Scholarship is open to students currently residing in Davenport and Rock Island.
The scholarship is available beginning with the spring session this January and will be offered through the summer of 2020. Students may receive the scholarship for up to six terms.
The Workforce Development Scholarship focuses on developing workforce in high demand programs and follows the same income guidelines as the Community Development Scholarship.
This scholarship is set aside for students enrolled in one of the college’s Career Technology or Continuing Education programs, specifically:
Career Technology Programs
- Information Technology (Computers)
- Virtual Reality
- Business Management AAS
- Accounting Management
- Medical Assistant
Continuing Education Programs
These scholarships are based on income. Eligible students will be those whose family household income is 250 percent or less of the federal poverty level. Examples would be a student from a single family household with income less than $30,300 or a family of four with household income below $62,570. Current Eastern Iowa Community Colleges-Scott Community College students are eligible for both scholarships. Students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA to qualify.
Students must attend the majority of their classes at the Scott Community College Urban Campus, 101 W. Third St., Davenport.
The scholarships are funded through the Iowa Community Development/Urban Research Park NMTC Scholarship Fund. Deadline for application for the spring, 2019, session is January 3.
