Ice Rescue is an 8 hour program that prepares the emergency first responder to safely respond to and carry out a surface ice rescue. The classroom lecture will introduce the student to topics including the ice formation and hazards, equipment selection, medical consideration and the application of various rescue methods. Afield exercise will be conducting using the tools and methods introduced to the students during the classroom portion of the program.
Fee: $40 (Includes tuition, lunch and materials)
Note: Payment required at the time of registration. If department is to be billed for enrollment, an authorization to bill department must be faxed to EICC at 563-441-4053. Authorization to bill may be done on department letter head and must include name of contact person and phone number.
BE SURE TO BRING
Members should bring: US Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Device(PFD), personal clothing that provides adequate cold weather protections. If available, bring the cold water/ice rescue suits used in your department, a towel and a dry change of clothing. Some cold water rescue equipment is available.
IMPORTANT MEDICAL CONSIDERATION
Ice Rescue can be extremely strenuous and demanding for the rescuer. Only you know what physical condition you are in and you should only take this class if you are in good physical condition and health.
