Programs for High School Students >
Earn college credit right now – while you’re still in high school. Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Community College have formed partnerships to make it possible. Juniors and seniors can enroll and complete courses at home, at the high school, or on one of our campuses.
College Connection courses supplement high school courses. Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Community College competencies, course materials, and textbooks are used in the classroom.
You get experience that leads directly to degrees, diplomas, certifications, and/or apprenticeships. You receive hands-on training in an area of personal interest.
The credits you earn in the College Connection program can be put toward a two-year associate degree or recorded on your transcript for transfer and ultimately, a four-year degree.
Courses taken in Liberal Arts transfer easily to a four-year institution. Some credits earned in a technology program may transfer to a four-year school. If you have any questions about transferability, it’s best to meet with an advisor before signing up.
If you would like to transfer credits to another college or university, it is your responsibility to contact the college you wish to transfer to regarding what will transfer and what will not.
Technology Programs
You can be ready to go to work faster than you dreamed possible by beginning one of these programs while you are still in high school.
Transfer Programs
Save time and money by taking some Arts and Sciences transfer courses now, while you are in high school.
Courses such as the following are offered at your high school, via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN), Iowa Public Television, or the Internet.
The Iowa Communications Network enables our colleges to transmit courses from one campus to the other two, eliminating a long commute for our students. ICN classes operate like a regular classroom, with easy interaction among students and instructors.
Iowa Public Television hosts an assortment of “telecourses.” You view the program at home, complete assigned material, and come to campus only to take tests. Sign up for a telecourse the same way you sign up for any other course.
Internet classes have become extremely popular. There are more than a hundred online courses from which to choose. Click here to find out more (link to online course info.)
How to Enroll
Speak to your high school guidance counselor about enrolling in College Connection. You will need to complete a Clinton, Muscatine, or Scott Community College application and a course schedule form. You will also need a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian. To help in placement, you will be required to take an assessment test before your first class meeting.
Tuition cost is covered by an agreement between Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Community College and your local school district.
