Online Courses and Programs

EICC's online courses use a course management system called eCollege. EICC belongs to the Iowa Online Community College Consortium-a group of nine Iowa community colleges that share courses and maintain full articulation agreements with each other.

EICC offers most of the online courses, but in some instances you may be enrolled in an online course that is taught by one of the ICCOC member schools.

You have the option of selecting fully online courses (no campus meetings with the exception of proctored exams in some courses), hybrid (blended online courses using a teaching strategy incorporating online instruction and campus meetings-usually 60% instructional time online and 40% instructional time in the classroom), and eCompanion (not really an online course, but the instructor uses e-learning tools and websites to supplement the class-also called web-assisted).

Fully online courses are offered as 16 week (full semester) or in an accelerated format (eight weeks). There are no accelerated Hybrid (Blended) online courses.

Fully online courses are taught by EICC instructors and instructors from the other ICCOC member schools. Hybrid and eCompanion online courses are taught only by EICC instructors.
