EICC Summer Camps

Zombie Survival, Hunger Games, Culinary Skills and Healthy Lifestyles are just four of the camps being offered for the first time this summer by Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC).

Summer Learning Camps are a new program at EICC’s Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Community Colleges and offer something for students all the way from age seven through high school.

Coordinated by college faculty, the camps provide hands-on learning experiences for young people that engage their minds and their bodies. Each camp offers an opportunity to explore something unique and to learn practical skills they can continue to use long after summer is gone.

The camps include:
Wilderness Camp
Learn the outdoor and nature skills that Katniss and Peta used in the Hunger Games. Students will explore the wetlands, woodlands and prairies while learning basic survival skills. There will also be opportunities for fishing, canoeing, archery and more.

Wilderness Camp
Zombie STEM Survival Camp
Use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to rise above the Zombies. Students will learn how to apply practical skills like shelter building, fire safety, team skills, renewable energy sources, navigation and more to survive a “Zombie invasion”.

Culinary Skills Camp
Designed for older students, this three-day camp features experience with all things culinary – menu planning, proper food handling and safety, cooking techniques, and presentation! Chef-taught in the lab at Scott Community College.

Culinary Skills Camp
College Connection Camp

Experience college in a hands-on way through fun learning activities. Sponsored in partnership with Western Illinois University, this free camp include is a bridge building competition, teamwork and communication, problem solving and critical thinking and The Science of Code Writing – “Cracking the Code”.
