June Cooking Classes
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is cooking up some great classes in its kitchens at the college’s West Davenport Center, 2950 N. Fairmount St. Classes are hands-on and, unless otherwise noted, held from 6 - 9 p.m. and cost $24 each.
Not Your Mama’s Grilled Cheese takes that gooey grilled cheese and puts a French flair in it with the more grown-up versions, Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame. Participants should bring a cast iron skillet if they have one available. Class will be held June 12, course number 184917.
Mini Fruit Tarts dress up every table with simple, little, edible bites. Class will be held June 13, course number 183732.
If You Knew Sushi is Back Again shows just how much fun making sushi can be. Class will be held June 14, course number 184918.
Gluten Free Breads include some of the more difficult varieties, multi-grain breads and rolls. Class will be held June 15, course number 183726.
Homemade Biscotti are twice-baked Italian cookies that make great gifts. Class will be held June 20, course number 183734.
Gluten Free Quick Breads go beyond banana bread with delicious breads using gluten free and plant-based ingredients. Class will be held June 22, course number 183725.
Parent/Child Summer Cookies doesn’t buy into the sentiment that baking cookies is reserved for cold months. Participants will be making sugar cookies in summer shapes and decorating them with royal icing. They are asked to bring a cookie sheet to take wet cookies home. Class will be held June 24, course number 183785. Note: This class will be held from 9 a.m. – Noon.
Not So Slow Cooked Ribs are perfect when people are in a rush but still want that falling off the bone rib. Class will be held June 26, course number 185128. Note: Fee for this class is $39.
