Colleges host July 10 info session

Students Walking through hallway

Hard as it is to believe, the summer is slipping by quickly and the start of fall classes is just a few short weeks away.

Students who have not yet made plans for that start of classes should begin doing so soon. To help them get started, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is hosting a July 10 Learn More/Earn More event. The event begins at 6 p.m. at all three of EICC’s campuses, Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Community Colleges.

The colleges’ fall classes begin August 25 and some are already beginning to fill. While the college works with students to make sure they get the classes they need, it’s important students register early to get those classes at the times they want them.

Learn More/Earn More is open to everyone including those who are ready to enroll as well as those still making a decision. Several representatives from the college will be on hand at each location to discuss academic programs, career training, financial aid and the admissions process.

EICC has become the first choice for both students just graduating from high school as well as those who have been out of school for several years and are now returning.

The colleges offer a wide variety of programs designed specifically to help students get ahead in today’s world. These include a college transfer program for students interested in completing a bachelor’s degree or beyond, and more than 50 career programs for those who want to enter directly into the job market.

The career programs range from a single semester in length to the full two-year Associate in Arts degree. In addition, the colleges offer a number of short continuing education classes often lasting only one or two nights that can help people brush up on specific skills.

The college continues to make a college or technical education affordable with a tuition that is less than half that charged by private colleges. Students also have a number of grant, loan and scholarship options available to them.
