December Cooking Classes are full of desserts
There’s still time to learn something new in the kitchen for the holidays. Eastern
Iowa Community Colleges’ Continuing Education Department offers a number of three-hour,
hands-on, cooking classes. Classes cost $19 each and begin at 6 p.m. at the college’s
West Davenport Center, 2950 N. Fairmount St.
Oh Sugar, Sugar!! is presented by 2 Mamas Baking in Bettendorf, sharing its cookie recipes including flavored sugar cookies and other specialty sugar cookies. Students will also be putting a base layer of royal icing on their cookies. Participants are asked to bring a cookie to take wet cookies home. The class will be held December 4, course number 130716.
Crepesprovides some new ideas for those holiday leftovers. The class will be held December 5, course number 130740.
Holidays Around the World combines both cookies and crafts from around the world. Students get in the fun even more by bringing their own favorite recipes to share with others. Participants are asked to bring containers to take cookies home with them. The class will be held December 9, course number 130702.
Cream Puffsshows how anyone can make and fill those tender hollow little cream puff shells. The class covers the history and basic techniques of creating the sweet pastries from pate choux dough. Students will make their own dough, pastry cream, whipped cream and chocolate ganache. The class will be held December 10, course number 130719.
Thyme Honored Traditionsintroduces a variety of dishes, just in time for that holiday family feast. The class will be held December 11, course number 130863.
