Cookies, scones, beans and jams
Cookies, scones, beans and jams are among the wide variety of upcoming cooking classes
offered by Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ Continuing Education Department. The hands-on
classes are held at the college’s West Davenport Center, 2950 N. Fairmount St., from
6 - 9 p.m. and cost $19 each.
Cookie Marathon is a great class for planning ahead, creating several different cookie doughs that can be frozen including drop cookie, rolled cookie and biscotti. Class will be held April 28, course number 135823.
Sensational Scones provides the basic techniques for preparing wedge scones and free form scones. The class will also prepare easy freezer jams and spreads. Participants should bring containers for leftovers. Note: This class will be held at Pleasant Valley High School, 604 Belmont Road, Bettendorf. Class will be held April 29, course number 135856.
Beans, Beans uses legumes for savory and simple dishes. Class will be held April 29, course number 135985.
Floral & Herb Jams are created, as the class title implies, from flowers and herbs. Class will be held April 30, course number 135807.
Middle Eastern Favorites provides participants the opportunity to sample a variety of delicacies including stuffed grape leaves, baklava, hummus, pita bread and a meat dish called Kebayba. Class will be held May 1, course number 138005.
Cheesecakes is a special class that provides the experience needed to blend ingredients to make and decorate, from scratch, plain, chocolate, lemon and cherry cheesecakes. Class will be held May 5, course number 138004.
