Born to a drug-addicted mother and absent father, Roderick “Odd?Rod” Borisade struggled hard in life during his preteen years. He lost his 16 year old brother Eric in 1996 to brain cancer leaving 13 year old Rod as the head of the house. Eric’s death changed Rod as he began to write his life’s pain in rhyme. He named himself Odd?Rod as he went against the odds avoiding drugs/drug dealing in order to make it to school.
Odd?Rod earned a full scholarship to UNF and has documented his entire journey in poetry. Landing a 41-school college tour his first year out as a performer last year, Odd?Rod continues to define his destiny. He’s nurtured his talent to give an entertaining life story of how his dark past has awarded him a bright future as he encourages students all over on the importance of education and the survival of life.
