CCC B-rrry Scurry
Clinton Community College will host the 33rd Annual B-rrry Scurry 4-Mile Run on Saturday,
February 1, 2014. Runners and walkers agree the race day atmosphere is exciting,
the route is flat and fast with chip timing and instant results, and the post-race
party is legendary – all the necessary ingredients for "one of the best little races
in the Midwest!"
The B-rrry Scurry begins at Noon at the Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton. Runners and walkers are invited to participate. Proceeds of the race benefit CCC students through B-rrry Scurry scholarships. Packet Pickup is Friday, January 31 from 3 – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Prize money is awarded to the male and/or female that sets a new course record on the out-and-back flat-and-fast course. Bryan Glass holds the Men’s course record of 20:15. Jessica Langford set the Women’s course record of 23:21.
All participants receive the official, originally-designed TECH race shirt (runners LOVE this shirt!), have their names listed in the Clinton Herald, are eligible for some great door prizes, free refreshments after the race, and entry into the post-race party at a Legends. Legends will also feature live music by Mitch Evans, Todd Striley and Mike Pickney from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Special medallions bearing the image of B-rrry Bear, the official race mascot, are presented in 14 age divisions for both men and women, including the new 75 + age category. The B-rrry Challenge encourages area businesses and organizations to get involved while competing for the top award.
The most fascinating aspect of the B-rrry Scurry is the weather. January temperatures have ranged from 60 degrees below zero to 350 degrees above zero. The warm up this week will offer a nice day for a run or walk.
The 2014 Volunteer of the Year honorees have served happily as a B-rrry Scurry Volunteer family, beginning in 2003. Eisenman commented, "The Burmester Family includes Kennie, Karen, Konnie, and other assorted friends. Their enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to say 'YES!' contribute to making the B-rrry Scurry 'one of the best little races in the Midwest!' Thanks to all of our B-rrry Scurry volunteers, and especially to our 2014 Volunteers of the Year – the Burmester Family."
Thank you ALL for being part of the 2014 B-rrry Scurry, and for making it "one of the best little races in the Midwest!"
