“Student enrollment in the Heating Air Conditioning Ventilation and Refrigeration (HVACR) program at Scott Community College continues to grow as industry demand for skilled workers in this field continues to support job growth.  We are excited about the future of this program and the success our students will have as they enter the workforce”, said Janet Coogan, Dean of Career and Technical Education.

Two area businesses, Hornbuckle and Trane were eager to help with a $5,000 donation to support the college’s HVAC programming needs.   These funds were used to purchase the materials needed to complete the installation of lab equipment enabling students to work hands-on with a variety of different heating and air conditioning models.  Students can currently learn on everything from a standard air conditioning unit to an ultrahigh efficiency  - solar powered air conditioning system.  In addition, $1,000 of this donation was used to establish two scholarships in support of deserving HVAC students who show academic success.

John Blair, HVACR Instructor said, “It’s always very important that we keep the most current technology in the lab so students are trained on the types of units they will work on in the field. Hornbuckle and Trane understand this mission and they are great friends of Scott Community College. We thank them for their continued support.”
