Spice up your Holidays with some cooking classes
It’s the holiday season and that’s reflected in the upcoming schedule of cooking classes available through Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ Continuing Education Department. All classes are hands-on and best of all, participants get to eat their creations.
Holiday Layered Gift Jars are fun and simple gifts including cocoas, teas and cappuccinos, cookies, brownies and soup mixes. Participants will taste all the recipes and prepare two to take home. The class will be held December 5, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Bettendorf High School South Entrance, 3333 18th Street, Bettendorf. The cost is $19 and the course number is 101197.
Cakes 101 covers simple and easy recipes with no mixes, including a “funny” cake and a chocolate cake. The class will be held December 6, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., at Pleasant Valley High School, 604 Belmont Road, Riverdale. The cost is $19 and the course number is 101149.
A British Sunday Lunch shows how to prepare an authentically British lunch. The class will be held December 7, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., at Pleasant Valley High School, 604 Belmont Road, Riverdale. The cost is $19 and the course number is 101198.
The Holiday Season Around the World includes both delicious cookies and crafts from around the world to ring in the holiday cookie season. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite cookie recipe to share and some baggies to take cookies home. The class will be held December 12, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., at Pleasant Valley High School, 604 Belmont Road, Riverdale. The cost is $19 and the course number is 101130.
Homemade Ice Cream & Toppings are perfect for holiday treats and gifts. The class will be held December 13, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., at Pleasant Valley High School, 604 Belmont Road, Riverdale. The cost is $19 and the course number is 101152.
What the Dickens? takes participants back in time where they will learn to prepare recipes for a Charles Dickens Christmas. The class will be held December 14, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., at Pleasant Valley High School, 604 Belmont Road, Riverdale. The cost is $19 and the course number is 101194.
