SCC Celebrating National Community College Month
April is National Community College Month and Scott Community College (SCC), one of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, is ready to celebrate.
“We have a month full of events for the students and the community planned to celebrate National Community College Month. There is a lot to be proud of at SCC especially when you look at the important role the college plays in the community and in the lives of our students”, said Lysa Hegland, Assistant to the President & Foundation Director.
Below are some of the scheduled of events for April – National Community College Month:
| April 1- April 30: Wear your school spirit Come to school in your most fashionable SCC apparel. If you don’t have anything in your wardrobe already stop by the Scott or Kahl Bookstore to stock up on all the great sales. Mon. April 2: Transfer Fair, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., in the Belmont Campus Cafeteria Iowa State University, Western Illinois University, Augustana College, University of Iowa and St. Ambrose University are just some of the 4-year colleges and universities who will be in attendance at the 2012 Spring Transfer Fair. The Transfer Fair gives SCC students the opportunity to obtain information on transferring to a 4-year college or university. Students will meet with representatives to discuss admission requirements and options for pursuing their bachelor’s degrees. There will be FREE transportation from the Kahl Educational Center to SCC-Belmont for all SCC students. Tues. April 3: Blong Technology Center Food Day, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free snacks for students in honor of Community College Month. Wed. April 4: Kahl Educational Center Food Day, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free snacks for students in honor of Community College Month. Thurs. April 5: Belmont Campus Food Day 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free snacks for students in honor of Community College Month. Free Throw for Freebies (weather permitting) - on the SportCourt behind cafeteria 11-1 Music Performance by “Truman” 11:45-1:00 in the Cafeteria |
