Armstrong’s appointed full-time Vice Chancellor for Instruction
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) Chancellor Dr. Don Doucette has announced Muscatine Community College President Dr. Jeff Armstrong’s appointment as EICC’s full-time Vice Chancellor for Instruction.
Armstrong’s appointment is for a two-year period. Bob Allbee has been appointed as MCC’s Acting President, replacing Armstrong during that time period.
EICC includes Muscatine, Clinton and Scott Community Colleges. Armstrong was serving as both the MCC President and EICC Vice Chancellor for Instruction. This move allows him to concentrate fully on the vice chancellor’s position.
“With the new academic year we have a number of important initiatives in the instructional area that require sustained effort and creative leadership,” Doucette said. “Jeff has the unique experience and knowledge we need in place to insure that these initiatives are successful.”
Doucette said the initiatives included such areas as student completion, online learning, high school concurrent enrollment, program development and curriculum.
Armstrong began his MCC duties in 1983 and has served both the college and EICC in a number of capacities. He became MCC President in 2009 after serving 16 years as Dean of the College.
Allbee currently serves as Director of Operations at EICC’s Blong Technology Center however he has a long connection to MCC where he served as Director of its Business and Industry Center for 21 years.
“With Bob’s extensive experience at MCC I have full confidence that he will provide strong leadership for the college during this two year period,” Doucette said.
He said that Armstrong and Allbee have always worked closely together which will make for a smooth transition. The transition will be complete in the next two weeks.
