CCC hosts High School Fine Arts Day

Clinton Community College (CCC), on of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, continues to celebrate Community College Month with the annual Fine Arts Week. Students from the CCC Art and Graphic Design program hosted the Opening of the Exhibit on April 12. CCC students will also be part of the High School Fine Arts Day on Friday, April 20.
Art students from area High Schools are invited to participate in arts workshops which are run by CCC Arts students and professional artists. This year’s workshops are “Drawing: Create a Tattoo in the Style of a Famous Artist”, think Andy Warhol, Picasso, etc…“Painting: Piece by Piece” create a collaborative painting for CCC’s Science Wing; “ Purposeful Re-Purposing: Creating and Designing jewelry with Found Objects”; “Moveable Mural Design with Paint and Collage”; create a portable mural for the CCC campus.
In addition, high school students bring their own artwork to exhibit and have it juried by a team of professional artists, and they will view the artwork of CCC’s Art Students. Awards and scholarships are presented in a closing ceremony. Art instructor Robyn Smith commented, “High School Fine Arts Day is a wonderful way for high school students to get a taste of what is possible in the Arts at CCC.”
The community is invited to enjoy the CCC Student Art exhibit through April 20. Artwork is shown in Room 139 at CCC, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton. For more information about Clinton Community College, call 563-244-7001.
