Muscatine Community College Foundation announces scholarship awards for 2008-09

Billie DeKeyrel, MCC Assistant to the President and MCC Foundation Scholarship Coordinator, has recently received the allocation figures for the 2008-09 academic year at Muscatine Community College. The Foundation Scholarship Awards will total $258,732. Listed below are the scholarship awards available, including criteria for each:
Bernice Bowsman Scholarship
No restrictions as to program of study
Bauer Family Memorial Scholarship
Journalism majors.
Bloom Scholarship
Residents of Muscatine County studying in a health-related field.
Edward S. Burns Family Scholarship (in Memory of Bradford Burns)
Muscatine County Residents- demonstrated academic commitment to academic excellence
C Scholarship
No restrictions as to program of study – Financial need considered
Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust Scholarship
Must have completed six or more hours, preference to nontraditional, education and nursing majors – financial need emphasized
Roy J. Carver Memorial Scholarship
Preference given to business majors
EICCD Chancellor’s Challenge Award
Academically challenged but committed to achieving certificate or associates degree
Herman Cohn Scholarship
Sophomore business major, minimum GPA of 3.0, leadership qualities and financial need
Jerome W Conway Scholarship
Sophomore with demonstrated leadership qualities, financial need, minimum GPA of 3.0
Feed & Fertilizer Marketing Scholarship
First year student entering feed and fertilizer program

These scholarships have a wide range of criteria, established by the donor, and awards are made on that basis. Applications for the 2008-09 academic year are due in the scholarship office by April 1, 2008. Awards are made and announced in May.
