Clinton childcare conference provides variety of session choices
An Early Childcare mini-conference will be held on Saturday, March 29. The conference will be at Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton, from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The conference is for home child care providers, child care centers, preschools and foster parents.
Following conference check in, three sessions will offer a variety of topics including Leap Into Spring with Fun Food Ideas, What To Do About Bullies, Fight Bac: Keeping Kids’ Food Safe, Growing Up Fit, Bug Out, Leaping Into Literacy with Phonemic Awareness, Make/Take/Play-With-It for Toddlers and Preschoolers, Let’s Dig In the Dirt, and Consumer Culture & Children: Are Our Kids Getting Creamed By Commercials?
State of Iowa requirements for home child care providers are twelve hours of training each year. Attendees will be able to receive four of those hours by attending the conference. The first 90 participants who provide child care in Clinton or Jackson counties will receive a certificate worth $75 for materials to be used in your child care home, center or preschool.
You must be a registered home, center, preschool or foster parent to receive the certificate. Materials and certificates will be limited to 5 per center or preschool and 2 per child development home.
The event is co-sponsored by Child Care Resource & Referral, Clinton Community College and Iowa State University Extension – Clinton County, with funding provided by Clinton and Jackson Counties Empowerment.
