There's plenty to do in the cold snowy winter

Beat the winter blahs by signing up for Clinton Community College Continuing Education classes offered through the month of February.

For crafty folks who like to weave, basket making classes are a hit. The Twined & Randed Basket will be made on Monday, February 11. Cost is $16 plus materials. Register for class #46293 by calling 563-244-7100.

Area gardeners are eager to work the soil. Miniature Gardens will be the topic for the “Saturdays at the Arb” program on Saturday, February 16. The program will be presented at the Bickelhaupt Arboretum from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Miniature gardens are an attractive way to garden in a container with dwarf or mini plants. Learn how to select appropriate containers and plants, make the proper soil mixture and care for your mini garden from Jim Brown, co-owner of Distinctive Gardens in Dixon, Illinois. Register by calling 563-244-7100 and requesting Course #46279. Cost is $10 per person.

On Monday, February 18 you can learn “How to Write a Book”. Your friends have told you, “You ought to write a book!”  This seminar guides you through the specific steps in developing a novel or non-fiction manuscript.

Discover the steps in manuscript development, from idea to completion.  You’ll also learn how to develop a solid book proposal and how to approach an agent. You’ll leave with a much clearer idea on how to get the book inside of you onto paper or computer, and then into the hands of a publisher. Register for Class # 46343. Cost is $35. Class runs from 6 – 9 p.m.

For more information about these programs contact Anne Schmidt at Clinton Community College, 563-244-7050.
