CCC annual athetic banquet set for April 17
Clinton Community College student athletes will be honored at the annual sports banquet to be held Thursday, April 17. The banquet will include a review of the volleyball and basketball seasons, and athletic awards will be presented. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Clinton Community College Auditorium located at 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton. Guest speaker for the event will be KROS Radio announcer Gary Determan.
Gary Determan began his career at KROS in May, 1976. He was on the prep scene covering the Fulton Steamers for nine years, the Prince of Peace Irish for one season and took over as the voice of the River Kings and Queens in the fall of 1986.
Gary covered professional baseball for the station from 1978 thru 1992 and then again from 2006 to the present. Outside of sports at KROS, Gary is on air in the mornings from 6 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. and also worked in the sales department. He has been married to wife Mary for 32 years. They have 4 grown children, two who attended Clinton Community College, and one grandson.
The cost of the dinner and program is $15.
There will be a silent auction during the event with the proceeds benefiting athletics scholarships. Auction items include “Fishing with Bob” – an afternoon fishing with champion fisherman Bob Walker plus picnic lunch, Scrapbooking Basket, an Eagle Ridge Golf Resort overnight package including golf for four, and many others. Auction items can be seen at the college beginning Tuesday, April 15 and bidding will also begin at that time. The public is invited to view and bid prior to the dinner.
Those unable to attend the event are invited to sponsor student athletes for $15. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Clinton Community College at 563-244-7001.
