CHANCELLOR’S INITIATIVE TEAM: Student Recruiting /Coaching
Nine student ambassadors were recruited and trained for the 2006-2007 school year, and visits were made to venues including VIVA Quad Cities, Unity Fest and the West Liberty Latino Fair.
Partnerships were formed with area social service agencies for client visits, as well as the University of Iowa's Upward Bound Program, where ambassadors joined a 'road show' panel in promoting higher education opportunities. Phone calls were made to follow up with new students to offer support and academic resources. Ambassadors have also made presentations for Iow@Work recipients, for high school minority groups, and at special on-campus recruiting events.
