Cross Cultural Learning Modules Project / Update August, 2007

1. The course has been developed with four cross-cultural modules.
2. Equipment has been installed at Stella Maris College in Chennai, India.
3. Early attempts to connect were not successful – due to problems with EICCD bandwidth.
4. Muscatine Power and Water has installed an external line into a classroom at MCC and a pilot test was run this past winter which was somewhat successful.
5. A Polycom (internet video) system has been obtained (through another grant) and will be installed in Larson Hall Room 65.
6. The four modules will be piloted this fall semester.  Dates for these cross cultural interactions are being finalized.
7. Faculty from SCC and CCC will travel to Chennai late in the fall semester or early in the spring semester with the goal of developing four additional modules.  Future exchange dates are being discussed between US and Indian teams.
8. A revised timeline has been approved by US Department of State personnel.
9. A no-cost time extension has been verbally approved and formally submitted.
10. Plans are underway to offer the full course in January 2008.
11. Once the pilot course is completed and evaluated, the program will be offered next academic year at other colleges in EICCD and through CCID partners.
