MGT-260  Introduction to Business Logistics  3 cr.
Provides an overview of the role of logistics in today’s business world; terminology in the field of logistics; and an overview of the major functional areas of the field of logistics, such as transportation, inventory management, distribution and warehousing and regulatory and compliance.  The student will also be exposed to trends, issues and challenges of the field, as well as to potential careers in logistics (locally, regionally and nationally).  This course is the first one for any of the logistics pathways, but also makes a good elective for other general programs (i.e., business) to round out the understanding of any business operation.

BUS-293  Principles of Workforce Competitive Advantage 3 cr.
Focuses on developing basic professional skills to maximize productivity in the workplace and increase an individual’s competitive edge.  The emphasis is placed on the student’s ability to be prepared for the challenges of everyday situations in the workplace.  Major topics include work ethic, workplace values promoted by employers, self-reflection and willingness to make changes as needed, business etiquette, effective communication, teamwork, problem solving, diversity in the workplace and stress management.

MGT-261 Principles of Transportation Management  3 cr.
Studies the fundamental roles and importance of transportation in companies and the society.  The course evaluates the complex environment in which transportation services are provided and explores strategies for adapting to a fast-paced and rapidly changing industry.  Specific tools include overview of transportation, the supply chain, the economy, traditional modes of transportation, special carriers, global transportation, economic operating characteristics of each mode, costing, pricing, carrier strategy and information management.

MGT-265 International Transportation & Logistics  3 cr. 
Focuses on the major factors of importing and exporting goods and services on a global scale.  It includes understanding current terminology, regulations, analysis of and opportunities in international markets, basic principles of international financing, exchange rates, and other elements associated with the transportation and distributions operations to facilitate global trade.

MGT-267 Principles of Cargo Security  3 cr. 
Examines relevant facets of maritime, land, pipeline and air transportation security related systems and associated issues.  It covers applicable legislation and the agencies tasked to oversee each mode of transportation.  It also describes how to implement an appropriate program to enhance the security of a particular mode of transportation.

MGT-268 Principles of Logistics Operations Management  3 cr. 
Provides a detailed study of operations management emphasizing the need to achieve the highest level of service and product quality while keeping cost as low as possible.  The major areas covered include main concepts, tools and techniques of operations management, coordination and planning, quality improvement and project management for the typical business processes and its relationship to the supply chain.

MGT-269 Introduction to Inventory Management  3 cr. 
Focuses on the role of inventory management in the supply chain.  Students will be exposed to the concepts, principles, problems and procedure so inventory management.  The crucial role of inventory and materials management is the efficiency, competitiveness, and profitability of a business will be examined.  Implications for inventory management of material requirements planning and just-in-case systems will also be emphasized..

HSE-260 Regulation and Compliance – Transportation  3 cr. 
Focuses on the Federal and International regulations regarding the transportation of goods and services.  Content areas are Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) regulations; Resource Recovery Act (RCRA), International Air Transport Association (IATA) codes and regulations; and International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) codes.

HSE-261 Regulation and Compliance –Warehousing & Distribution  3 cr.
Provides an introduction to U.S. Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations; legal implications of legislation as it applies to safety in the workplace; Material Safety Data Sheets; mandatory and voluntary compliance; Workers Compensation; and incident and accident investigation.

BUS-300 Introduction to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)  3 cr. 
Covers radio frequency identification (RFID) concepts and fundamentals, and how emerging electronic product code (EPCglobal) standards are influencing adoption.  Content includes RFID capabilities, current applications of RFID in businesses and practical ways to articulate use cases for this technology to potential employers and peers..

BUS-302 RFID Software  3 cr.
Covers all aspects of a RFID Software solution suite.  Specifically, how to install, configure and implement various use cases found in the supply chain.  Topics include an understanding of the capabilities of the solution and how various use case factors influence read rates and reliability.

BUS-301 Impact of RFID on the Supply Chain  3 cr. 
Surveys case studies on how Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been used in the supply chain.  Examples from the retail, pharmaceutical, defense, manufacturing and logistic industries will demonstrate how companies have gained competitive advantages by implementing this new technology.  Topics will emphasize the impact on business processes, security of transmitted data, and financial analysis.

MGT-928 Independent Study-Special Projects in Logistics and Supply Chain  2 cr. 
Designed by students and the logistics faculty to provide a highly individualized learning experience within the logistics and supply chain field to include RFID, Inventory Management, Transportation, Regulaion and Compliance, and Import/Export.  Specific tasks and outcomes are identified and customized for the student for completion in one semester.  Students will create a project synopsis to be presented to the logistics department highlighting the outcomes of the project.
