State Licensure
Many of the states currently have licensing laws covering the
practice of radiologic technology. Although the ARRT exam is a
voluntary certification exam, states use the ARRT exam scores in
licensing decisions.
Both Iowa and Illinois have licensure. These states will give you a
license to work as a radiologic technologist if you are registered
with the ARRT. In order to keep your license current, you will need
to practice continuing education. (12 hours per year are
required).
American Society of Radiologic
Technology
The ASRT is the only nationally recognized
professional society representing all radiologic technologists in
the United States today. One of the primary reasons the ASRT was
organized was to be able to present educational opportunities to
the technologists of the United States.
