Receipt of Transfer Credit from
other Colleges and Military to Scott Community
College
Transfer credit may be accepted from institutions that are
accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges or its
regional affiliates. Military credit may be accepted based on an
evaluation of military transcripts (preferable with American
Council on Education [ACE] guides).
Courses will only transfer if there is a direct comparison with
a course in the HSET curriculum. Elective credit or course
substitutions will be judged on an individual basis by the College
Registrar. Transfer credit will be recorded on the academic
transcript (denoted as a "T" on the transcript).
Students may find out which of their credits already earned at
another college or the military will transfer to SCC and fulfill
requirements for the A.A.S. degree in HSET. The following procedure
should be used:
Send a letter, fax, or e-mail to the SCC registrar requesting a
transfer credit evaluation. Include:
- Name, address, phone number
- Social security number
- Proposed major - Health, Safety and and Environmental
Technology A.A.S. degree
- College(s) sending transcript(s)
Ask the previous college to send an official transcript to:
SCC Registrar
500 Belmont Road
Bettendorf, IA 52722
The same procedure should be used for evaluation of military
training.
Notification of prior credits which will transfer will be by
U.S. mail or fax to the student.
Students wishing to begin taking courses at another college
toward the HSET A.A.S. degree should have these courses evaluated
ahead of time to make sure they fulfill SCC requirements.
Send the following, along with your name, address and proposed
major, to the SCC Registrar for evaluation:
- Course title
- Course number
- College name
- Copy of the course description from the college catalog
