The HSET certificate program is
appropriate for students who have prior education and experience in
a related field.
Students may choose a certificate with either an environmental
or a safety emphasis with assistance from their advisor to reach
the required 18 semester hours for their personalized certificate.
You can also select the courses from both lists to personalize your
certificate.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of the program, the student should be
able to:
• Research applicable local, state, and federal
regulations, and implement methods and strategies to ensure
compliance.
• Maintain records as required by OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
• Develop and implement hazardous materials handling
procedures.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate employee training
required by government regulations.
• Manage hazardous waste from its generation to its
disposal, and identify opportunities for waste reduction.
• Plan for emergency response to workforce
incidents.
• Protect employees/workers from workforce
exposures.
The HSET certificate is granted upon the successful completion
of 18 credit hours (six courses).
