Tuition

Refer to our tuition chart for exact tuition costs.  Most courses in the HSET program are three semester credit hours.  Tuition is subject to change without notice.  Contact the HSET Department for current tuition costs at 563-441-4086 or 1-800-895-0811.  
  
You are considered an Iowa resident for tuition purposes if your legal residence is in Iowa and you have lived in the state for no less than 90 days immediately before the first day of classes of the term for which you have enrolled.  You are responsible for providing your in-state status.

Course Material Fees

Costs of required course materials are in addition to tuition and may range from $40 to over $200 per course.  Tuition does not include the cost of textbooks and supplemental material.  For each course, fees are assessed for the following:
 
   • Student Manual (which is a course textbook)
   • Required supplementary materials
 
Some of the required supplementary materials are used in more than one course.  These materials form the basis of a compliance library for your future employment in the health, safety and environmental technology field.

Textbooks may be ordered through the SCC Bookstore.

Students are responsible for the cost of mailing assignments to their instructor and for proctored exam fees, if any.

Tuition Refunds

Students who officially withdraw from a distance learning course (i.e., submit the necessary withdrawal form) shall be entitled to a refund of tuition according to the following schedule:
 
    • Withdrawal prior to the official course enrollment date:  100% refund of tuition.
 
    • Withdrawal prior to the end of the first week after the official course enrollment date:  75% refund of tuition.
 
    • Withdrawal prior to the end of the second week after the official course enrollment date:  50% refund of tuition.
