preschool children, the Child Care program can give you the skills
and experience you need.
Scott Community College's Early Childhood Education/Child Care
Program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive
background in early childhood education. Meaningful on-site
practical experiences along with lecture, hands on learning and
theory round out your education.

Outlook
Graduates find opportunities in both public and private day care
centers, preschool, social service agencies, home visitor programs
and public schools. Some graduates will also continue their
education toward a baccalaureate degree in early childhood or
elementary education.
Early childhood educators generally work a 40- hour week that
may include evening, weekends and holidays. Many childcare workers
work part time.
Earnings
Entry-level salaries for graduates of this program will vary
depending on employment situations and the individual graduates
background. According to labor market statistics the median hourly
earnings are $8.23 where the entry-level earnings are $7.72.
