Introduction
The Mechanical Design/Pro Engineer program is comprised of three separate degree paths—Certificate, Diploma, and Associate of Applied Science. All three of these degrees consist of courses that have been designed in a modular format. This format allows students to work at an individual pace with a flexible schedule. Courses taken from the “Arts and Science” areas will be taught in the traditional method.
What is “Modular” delivery?
Courses are designed in a self-paced, guided instruction format. Each course has been designed in small parts which when added together make up the entire course. For example, “AutoDesk Inventor” is one course that consists of (10) modules. Upon completion of all (10) modules, a student would receive credit for the entire course.
Student Learning Guide
When students register for a course, they will be given a Student Learning Guide that contains all necessary information to complete the course modules.
The Student Learning Guide is the student map with directions for completing the modules and course, including information about:
Qualified instructors are available to answer student questions and concerns and to assess student progress and assignments. Instructors will also be delivering short lecture / lab type demonstrations on a scheduled and as-needed basis for those students desiring them.
Learning Lab
Students are also encouraged to use the Learning Lab. The Learning Lab (Room 107) houses extra reference and resource materials as well as tutoring facilities.
