Ag students excel in national contest
Muscatine Community College Agribusiness & Technology
students annually compete and win awards in the National
Postsecondary Agricultural Students (PAS) Conference.
Seventeen students made the trip to
the 2009 contest held in Hershey, PA. Students competed
in four different events including Employment Interview, Career
Planning, Career Progress and Agricultural Sales.
The conference was held in the famous Hershey Lodge and the
group participated in several leadership and informational seminars
as well as meeting with various employers from across the country
at industry booths.
In addition to the conference itself, students also have the
opportunity to visit a number of sites and attractions in the area
the conference is being held. This year that included trips to the
Harley Davidson motorcycle plant in York, PA. the Gettysburg
National Battlefield Memorial Park and Hershey World where they
learned about Milton Hershey and the importance of agriculture in
the chocolate manufacturing process.
Check out the links at
the above/right for information about our winners and photos from
our trip.
Next year's ag students will have the opportunity to travel to
St. Louis for the 2010 PAS conference.
