Admission Requirements Checklist

The following items are needed for admission to the college. Immigration form I-20 will not be issued until the following requirements have been met.
 
 
____  1. Completed application form.
 
____  2. Furnish complete, official transcripts of all past education translated into English by an official translator. (See list of translators included with this form.) The transcripts also need to be evaluated by an official evaluator. (See list of translators included with this form.)
 
____  3. Must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language (in the form of Test of English as a Foreign Language, TOEFL; EICCD schools require a score of 500 or better on the paper test, 173 on the CBT, 61 on the IBT).

Because there are high demands in writing and oral communication in a college classroom, you can expect additional testing of English proficiency before you will be allowed to pursue academic classes outside of ESL. If your TOEFL is below 500/173/61, or if your proficiency testing indicates further needs in English development, you may be admitted to the ESL program at Scott Community College.

 If any subscore on the PBT/CBT for listening comprehension, structure and written communication, or reading comprehension of your TOEFL score is lower than a 48(PBT) / 16(CBT) or a 15(IBT) for listening, reading, speaking writing, you may expect to take some ESL classes.
 
____  4. Must provide proof of financial responsibility. (Certified letter from bank proving you have at least $15,402 per year available to you.) 
 
 
No financial aid is available for foreign students. Therefore, you must have enough of your own money to pay for all educational and living expenses while attending college. Obtaining an F-1 Students Visa can be a lengthy process. It is important that you begin the process as soon as possible.
